Tailored training for Rational Acoustics SMAART, designed to give audio engineers and technicians the knowledge to achieve precise, consistent results in any environment. All courses are delivered by Kim Watson, UK Rational Acoustics SMAART instructor.

What's the daily schedule?
Day 1 runs 10.30am – 5.30pm. Day 2 runs 9.00am – 4.00pm. Both days include an hour for lunch, plus short breaks in the morning and afternoon.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes. At the end of the course you'll receive a one-time-use code for the online certification test. Pass it and you're issued the official Smaart Operator Fundamentals certificate.
Do I need to already own Smaart?
No. If you don't have a licence, a free 30-day demo (PC or Mac) is available from Rational Acoustics — that's enough to get you through the class.
What do I need to bring?
- A laptop with Smaart v9 (or the 30-day demo) installed
- Dante Virtual Sound Card (VSC) installed before you arrive — class audio is distributed over Dante, and Dante VIA is not a substitute
- An RJ45 (Ethernet) port, or an adapter if your laptop doesn't have one
- Admin access on your laptop, since you'll need to install software and adjust firewall settings during class
You don't need to bring any other measurement gear — mixers, mics, interfaces aren't required and there isn't room for them.
Is there a discount on buying Smaart afterwards?
I will supply you in the class with a discount code that is valid for 90 days.
How do I book a place?
Book directly from the course listing at the top of this page — click "Book now" next to the date you want, or "Register now" for courses hosted via 22Live. Spaces are first-come, first-served, so early booking is recommended.
What if the course is full?
You can join the waitlist. Spots are offered by email in signup order, and you'll have 48 hours to accept and pay before it passes to the next person.
What's the cancellation policy?
- More than 14 days before the course: full refund
- Less than 14 days before: 75% refund
- Less than 24 hours before, or a no-show: no refund
Can I record the session?
Audio or video recording isn't permitted without prior written permission.
