t.racks FIR DSP 408 control app for Mac
Beta — for testersThe official editor for the t.racks FIR DSP 408 only runs on Windows. This is a native Mac app that controls the unit over the network, with the whole processor laid out on one page: inputs, outputs, EQ, crossovers, dynamics and matrix all visible at once.
It's a beta, so thanks for testing it. Please tell me what works, what doesn't and what you'd like to see.
What it does
- Live control of gain, mute, polarity, delay and channel names
- Parametric EQ with a draggable graph, crossovers, gate, compressor and limiter
- Matrix routing and levels, channel links and full-channel copy
- Open and save .prs preset files, and recall or store presets on the unit
- Live meters and the signal generator
- Offline mode, so you can build and save a preset with no unit connected
Installing
- Open the downloaded .dmg and drag t.racks DSP 408 into your Applications folder.
- Double-click the app. macOS will say it "could not verify" it. That's because the beta isn't signed with an Apple developer certificate yet. Click Done.
- Open System Settings › Privacy & Security and scroll down to the Security section. You'll see a message saying t.racks DSP 408 was blocked. Click Open Anyway, enter your Mac password, then click Open Anyway once more. You only need to do this once. After that it opens normally.
- When it first looks for the unit, macOS may ask to let it find devices on your local network. Click Allow, or it won't be able to reach the DSP.
Connecting to the unit
Connect your Mac to the same network as the DSP 408. The app looks for the unit at 192.168.1.101 by default. If yours is on a different address, type it into the Unit IP box in the toolbar and press Set. The app remembers it for next time.
The unit only accepts one connection at a time. Close the Windows editor (or any other copy of this app) before connecting.
Your presets
Saved presets live in Documents › t.racks DSP 408. Drop any existing .prs files from the Windows software into that folder and they'll appear in the app.
Feedback and bugs
Email kim@polarisaudio.co.uk. A screenshot and a quick note of what you were doing when it went wrong helps a lot.
This is independent beta software, provided as is. It isn't made, supported or endorsed by Thomann or t.racks. Keep a backup of any presets you care about before testing.
